This poem is about my struggle with anxiety and the hope that the pain will be worth it in the end.
Palpable
Pulsing
What sets it off?
Paralyzing
Consuming
How long will it last?
Debilitating
Destroying
Just try to focus.
Creeping
Seeping
Permeating my existence.
Throat closing
Heart throbbing
What does it want?
Circumstances
Situations
Fuel for the flame.
Helpless
Childlike
Riding the wave.
Surrendering
Succumbing
Trust in the flow.
Listening
Learning
What does it want?
Excavating
Exfoliating
Deeper we go.
Grating
Grinding

Visiting from Mama Kat's.
Lovely poem, very heartfelt.
Very poignant. Love the words you chose. Found you on MamaKat's!
Jennifer - Thank you. That's my mantra, "Write from the heart. Right from the heart." I am glad you could see that I was.
Hilljean - Thank you, but the words chose me.
Beautiful poem. I like the 3rd sentence on each section.
Thanks for reading Jessica!
Wow. This is written so efficiently but with such power. Thanks for sharing at The Lightening and The Lightening Bug!
what a beautiful expression of the painful process of dealing with and hoping to overcome anxiety. That it will be worth it to struggle and deal with it head on. I understand this. Great job with the descriptiveness, and I applaud your bravery.
Really great job of describing those moments of anxiety. I have anxiety problems myself, and your beginning stanzas really NAIL that feeling. But my absolute favorite part is your ending. Amazing imagery there. Great job!
Thanks for linking up!!
